Every year on the 8th March, we take one day to celebrate women all over the globe. For 24 hours your inboxes and Insta feeds will see a steady stream of dedications to all the special ladies out there – and a few throwbacks to icons who came before, too.
Here at Edge of Ember, working in a female-led team for a female founder, we like to think we’re championing the power of women all year round. Still, we wanted to pay homage to International Women’s Day, so we created a new iteration of our Fearless necklace for 2022.
The first Fearless design dropped last year and now it’s back with a bold new pendant. Made from 100% recycled gold-plated sterling silver and strung from a 17” cable chain, it’s centred with green enamel and stamped with the word ‘Fearless’ in graphic font. Reminiscent of DIY bottle cap jewellery, this necklace has a punky, rebellious spirit – we couldn’t think of a more fitting ode to International Women’s Day.
This necklace is not only dedicated to strong women, it helps to create strong women too: £25 from every sale will go to Malala Fund. Edge of Ember’s been admiring the charity’s co-founder from afar since she first started campaigning for women’s rights in Pakistan aged 11. Now 24 and based in the UK, Malala Yousafzai is the world's youngest Nobel Prize laureate, an Oxford graduate, Vogue cover star and, most importantly, an extremely influential and powerful activist. We are thrilled to be partnering with such an inspirational, courageous female leader.
By investing in our Fearless necklace, for yourself or another woman in your life, you’ll be contributing generously to Malala’s mission. The non-profit organisation she set up with her father is currently advocating for free education for girls in eight countries. But it’s not enough: there are still more than 130 million girls out of school today. In the next five years, however, the duo plan to take things global; so your donation could help them work towards a world where every female can have the opportunity to learn and become a leader, too.
A purchase that looks good and does good, long after the 8th March? If that’s not a reason to treat yourself we don’t know what is. Happy International Women’s Day/Month/Year from us here at Edge of Ember.
