LET'S CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH

In celebration of Black History Month we're sharing our 5 most inspirational women for 2021. 

From female activists, to authors and game-changers we're embracing the fierce women who continue to make a positive impact in our world.

    

1. Nyome Nicholas-Williams

The model with Influence who changed Instagram's policy around the censorship of naked black women on their platform and the muse behind our upcoming Liberty Collection. Last year she rallied supporters to share the nude, artistic shot of her celebrating her body with the hashtag #IWantToSeeNyome forcing Instagram's CEO to take a better look at their censoring algorithm and deal with the racial discrimination. 

2. Dr Kizzmekia Corbett

The 35-year-old viral immunologist and research fellow in the Vaccine Research Center of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is the lead scientist on the team that developed the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine in the U.S. 

    

3. Amanda Gorman

The youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history at just 22 years old, Amanda took the world by storm with her poem The Hill We Climb that called for Americans to recover from their racial divides and inequalities.

     

4. Nia DaCosta

Nia is the first Black woman director to work on a Marvel movie (the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel) and a rising star filmmaker. Her first feature film in 2018 won the Tribeca Film Festival’s Nora Ephron award for the best woman writer-director.

5. Michaela Coel

British creative well known for her starring role in the groundbreaking series 'I may Destroy You' and bringing awareness to the widespread issue of sexual assault. The series fictionalises the story of her own assault giving the viewer a painfully honest depiction of the emotional turmoil victims go through. 

We also wanted to say a huge hank you to everyone who has supported our Stronger Together Collection. So far we have managed to donate over £9000 to Black Women's Health Imperative and Show Racism the Red Card in the fight against racial inequality in the U.S. and U.K.
