Around Brooklyn With Lauren

A self confessed Californian girl at heart, Brooklyn based blogger Lauren Gould started her blog a few years ago with a friend before going solo in 2014. Since then she has documented her outfits, lifestyle and inspirations on The Marcy Stop and we personally can’t get enough of her quirky style.

The EOE team was keen to know how New York has influenced her blog, so we asked Lauren few questions about this inspiring city she calls home.

"New York fashion is sophisticated and confident, with an edge."

Top brunch spot?
My current favorite is Talde in Park Slope. The food is so creative and delicious overall. Head there with a group so you can taste everything! Some of my favorite dishes include the breakfast ramen, bacon and egg pad thai, and kung pao chicken wings with waffles. The presentation is amazing too so it makes for some great food pics.

Go-to place for dinner and cocktails?
My go-to spot for dinner and cocktails has to be Bia in Williamsburg. It's a low key Vietnamese joint with great drinks and even better food. I'm half-Vietnamese, so I'm always looking for a pho fix nearby, and this place more than satisfies my needs.

Most frequented store?
My most frequented store has to be the thrift store Buffalo Exchange in Williamsburg. I often clean out my closets and can be spotted selling clothes there, and I've found so many treasures buried in their racks that I'll often just pop in when I'm nearby to see what new items they've gotten in. Fashion can be such a wasteful and polluting industry, so I do my part to try and resell and reuse clothes whenever possible.

Hidden gem of your neighborhood?
There are so many! I'm currently looking forward to the roof at Night of Joy opening again. They have amazing cocktails and on warm spring/summer nights there's no better place to chill.

Top culture spot in your city?
I love heading to PS1 in Long Island City in the summer to get a double dose of art and music during their 'Summer Warm Up' series. They always have an amazing, interactive art installation in their garden, fab music, DJs, food and drink, plus most of the museum is open for you to explore as well! I've had some really fun and memorable days there and can't wait until they start again this year.

New York Fashion Week Survival Kit?
My NYFW must haves include: a portable charger to keep my phone and technology going, my camera to take snaps during the dark runway shows and street style images when I feel up to it, oil-absorbing sheets, a spray of Skindinavia Makeup finishing spray (it keeps your makeup in place for 16 hours!) and a few Band-Aids, because you never know when your shoes are going to start killing you!
