Meet our Sister
To celebrate International Women’s Day for the month of March, we donated £20 from the sale of each Amethyst and Fearless Necklace to Women for Women International - a charity that helps women survivors of war rebuild their lives.
Our donations are going directly to supporting Marie Gorette Yangiriye, from Rwanda, through a year-long training programme. This year will equip her with a marketable job skill, practical knowledge about her health and rights, and the confidence to make her voice heard at home and in her community. These are essential skills that most of us, in places like the UK, take for granted, but will help build a brighter future for Marie and her family.
Women for Women International have worked in Rwanda since 1997, offering women the chance to regain control of their lives. In the aftermath of the devastating Genocide in 1994, women stepped forward to create lasting peace within their country. Helping them to know and defend their rights, Women for Women International have so far supported more than 76,000 women in Rwanda through the year-long programme. This opportunity empowers them to make their voices heard in decision making at home and within their communities, set up money making ventures to save for their future and ultimately become self-sufficient.
We will be getting to know our sister Marie, through letters and will keep you updated on her progress. If there are any questions you would like to ask her, or any words of encouragement you would like to share with her, please send them to us (email@example.com) and we will be sure to pass them on.
